Water is a key element in various stages of papermaking. For this, we use the Rio Coutinho, a 100% Guarapuavano river, as our source. Due to the importance and awareness surrounding the need to conserve this non-renewable resource, we have an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP). The technology chosen is Conventional Activated Sludge, and its main benefits are:
High treatment efficiency compared to other processes;
Quality control of the treated water;
Guaranteed smooth operation of the system.
The drainage of the sludge allows it to be used as a raw material for a variety of purposes, such as paper production and soil fertilization, among others. All the necessary analyses (pH; settleable solids; suspended solids; COD; BOD; nitrogen) are carried out in our own laboratory, specially set up to meet the station’s needs.
Since April 2022 we have been signatories to the Global Compact, a UN initiative for companies around the world to align their businesses with the Ten Universal Principles in the areas of Human Rights, Labor, Environment, and Anti-Corruption.
The aim of the Global Compact is to develop voluntary actions that effectively contribute to society’s challenges, and also to provide guidelines for sustainable growth and citizenship.
